So in other words, I can't approach a solution to make this a one step process by having the app send the request directly to the web site.
What other approaches or options would I have then?

Browse All TopicsHi all,
The company I work for gets real estate transfer information off of several county auditor sites. We currently have a VB app that you can feed saved HTML files from these sites into and the app will pull off the data it needs and save it in a database table.
I want to write a application that can do the same thing in one step. I am using C# to generate aspx files and I am able to input my criteria and send it off to the auditor's web site. However, the web site is returning and saying that my browser did not send referer information. I know the URL for the refering website, but how can I use that information in my C# application to send it correctly?
Thanks,
Paul

For one reason on tuther, I had to switch to VB.NET from C#.NET to be able to get to WebRequest. But this has helped me get past the invalid referer information. I am still checking into the legality of doing this with the county, but I should be able to continue my development.
I am closing this and awarding the points.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction

There are third party hacking tools available for spoofing the referer in a URL request. This is generally frowned upon, and may fall under your local and/or national computer misuse legislation.
