this was a problem with the Primary Key on the server the app is hosted on - it has now been sorted so am going to ask for a refund of these points.

Dynamic SQL generation for the UpdateCommand is not supported against a SelectCommand that does not return any key column information.
I have checked the relevant table has a primary key set
this works in the development environment but not production
any ideas?
