How to connect to a database in .NET using ODBC/DSN

My ASP.NET book tells me that I can set up a DSN and connect to a databse using the following:

conMyCon = NewOleDBConnection("DSN=myDSN")

However, trying this doesn't work and I can't find any more information on the subject.  I get the following error:

An OLE DB Provider was not specified in the ConnectionString. An example would be, 'Provider=SQLOLEDB;'

Can anyone tell me how to connect to my database using a DSN?

If my database has no username or password, can I just use the following?

conMyCon = NewOleDBConnection("DSN=myDsn;Uid=;Pwd=;")

I have tried this and get the same error.

it should have username such as SA  but maybe blank password

Only Odbc provider uses DSN. Instead of using OleDb provider switch to Odbc one if you want to use DSN.

' if you db has no id and password, simply specify dsn name will do
Dim conMyCon As New OdbcConnection("dsn=myDSN")
