GridView HyperLink field

I have a db with the following columns and data:
ID   LINKNAME   URL
1    google         www.google.com
2    hotmail         www.hotmail.com

On my webpage, I created a gridview and i added a HyperLink field to it with the following settings:
DataTextField="LINKNAME"
DataNavigateUrlFields="URL"

When I click on the HyperLink field, I'm redirected to this url: www.xyz.com/www.google.com instead of www.google.com.

How do I make the gridview direct me to the right place?

the format of the data should be http://www.google.com. Without http:// the URL will act as an internal URL..

have you tried prepending http:// to your urls?  In their current form they will be interpreted as relative URLs (and thus get the results you've already observed).  Thus

ID   LINKNAME   URL
1    google         http://www.google.com
2    hotmail         http://www.hotmail.com


or, you can set datanavigateurlformatstring on the HyperLinkField to "http://{0}" and use your existing data.
