ASP.NET access user control in masterpage.

I have a masterpage and within that I have a LoginView that contains a usercontrol I would like to access in another page.

How would I do this?

            </LoggedInTemplate>
        </asp:LoginView>
 
 
Profile.aspx (code was working before I put in the loginview)

You can access controls in the master page from a content page with:        

Dim LoginView1 As LoginView1 = Master.FindControl("LoginView1")
        LoginView1.Visible = False  'Or whatever

Okay, all you gotta do is add another findcontrol inside the loginview, once you've found the loginview - so:

        Dim loginview1 As LoginView = Master.FindControl("LoginView1")
        loginView1.FindControl("Howyourdoing1").Visible = false

hmm good logic. I just tried this in my page

LoginView loginview1 = Master.FindControl("LoginView1");
        loginView1.FindControl("Howyourdoing1").Visible = false;

(its the c# equivelant)

and its saying Cannot implicitly convert type 'System.Web.UI.Control' to 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.LoginView'. An explicit conversion exists (are you missing a cast?)

Interesting... worked in my test page, but I used a label instead of a uc4: (custom control?)....

Try this, I think C# is a little more picky and wants you to cast the loginview as a loginview...

LoginView loginView1 = (LoginView)Master.FindControl("LoginView1");

Worked like a charm. Here is the complete code.

LoginView loginview1 = (LoginView)Master.FindControl("LoginView1");
loginview1.FindControl("Howyourdoing1").Visible = false;
