ASP.NET 3.5 vs 2.0 (or 2008 vs 2005)

Asked by derekkromm in Programming for ASP.NET, .NET Framework 2.0, .NET Framework 3.x versions

Right now we have our intranet site written in .NET 1.1. We purchased Visual Studio 2005 a while ago, but we just haven't had time to re-develop the site. Now time has become available. I was looking at training courses, but most of them are now for .NET 3.5 / VS 2008.

If I were to go to that training, would most of it apply to .NET 2.0 / 2005? Are there any huge improvements that you think make moving on to .NET 3.5 / 2008 better?

I'm slightly hesitant about jumping into .NET 3.5 right away since its fairly new technology.
