calculate 2 sides

Asked by jagguy in Programming for ASP.NET, Math & Science Questions

Hi,

I want to display a quad (rectangle)with 2 of the corners at known angles.
What i am doing is to draw 2 triangles end to end  because this is easier to work out with angles and trig.(long story but anyway this is the best method which i dont want to discuss again)

If i enter in 140  and 80 then I want the top corner to be 140 and the botton to be 180-40,  so the opposite corners add up to 180. The corners on the sides will have angles of 80 and 100.

The triangle has the apex on the top and the other triangle has it facing down. The side points will be the same for both triangles.

eg i give top corner to 150 and the side corner to 100. So the corners will have angles 150,100,30,80 clockwise  from  the top.
q)To draw 2 triangles then i need to split these numbers up into 6 where the top and bottom angles stays the same. I am after a mathematcal way to get angles of 2 triangles ( I need 4 I dont have initially) that make up the quad?
