I have data entry inputted using asp.net textbox. When the user enters the data they are formatting their paragraphs with hard returns. This data is then stored in a MS SQL database table.
When I go to retreive that data I am displaying with a literal as I do not want to use a textbox to redisplay because it is a printable page. What happens is that the literal does not read the \r\n characters, and I don't actually see them stored in the database. If I use a textbox to redisplay it will show the correct spacing but when I use a literal if simply runs everything together.
I was thinking I could use the StringBuilder.Replace function to replace the \n\r chars with an HTML <br> statement, since I believe the literal is rendered as HTML output, but the hard return characters are not saved to the database table.
Can anybody give me some direction on what is the best way to handle this situation.
