The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Typed Dataset Help - No Class generated

Asked by gthendry in Programming for ASP.NET, C# Programming Language

Hi,

I am new to ASP.NET and trying to use Typed Datasets to build my Data Access Layer.

I have been following the example at http://www.asp.net/Learn/data-access/tutorial-01-cs.aspx but rather than using his Northwind database, I have been using my own which is a SQL 2000 database and is NOT stored in the App_Data folder.

The problem I am having is this...

1) I add a new item to the website and choose "Data set"
2) I then name the dataset "CSC.xsd"
3) I then drag a table from my Database Explorer called tblUsers (btw I am using Visual Web Developer 2008)
4) I kept all options as default but only changed the name of the default "get" method to GetUsers rather than GetData
5) I then made a page called test.aspx and added a gridview control there.
6) I opened the CS code-behind file for that page and tried to add the new class for the dataadapter that supposedly, Visual Studio is meant to create automatically. For example, in the demo, the code says:

using NorthWindDataAdapters;

So in my code, I put:

using CSCDataAdapters;

The problem I am having is that there is no CSCDataAdapters class showing up in Intellisense (or any other similar class with that name).

I downloaded the example files from the tutorial, and when I tried to comment out and rewrite the "using NorthWindDataAdapters" bit in the code behind, I could see it in intellisense fine. But when I try it with my own database (CSC) I don't see any class called CSCDataAdapters !!

The only difference I can see is that the tutorial site has the database inside the AppCode folder whereas I do not. But mine obviously is shown inside the Database Explorer just fine...

Please help as this is driving me mad!

Thanks,

Anthony
