Each time you move to a new page your gridView is re-bound (i.e, you have a method saying "gridView.DataBind()" ? If that's the case, you are basically overwritting your checkboxes. You'd need to make sure you store the checked values if they've changed so that they can get set again when you do a DataBind after hitting previous.
