The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. How to set up a query filter based on asp.net 2.0 user in forms authentication?

I use ASP.NET 3.5 SQL Datasources (inline page code now, stored procedures to come) to populate a gridview.  I use Forms Authentication and have separate folders with individual web.config files that determine access by Roles.  The pages in the folders have filters in the SQL Datasource based on which files should be returned for which Role:  "SELECT . . . . WHERE ID = 10" or "SELECT . . . . WHERE ID = 11 OR 16"
This was manageable when I had only 4 roles to handle, now I'm presented with ~30.  I guess it's time to ditch the training pants and set up a more robust access system.  I'd like to replace the filter integer with a variable based on either the Role or Username.  Due to my relative inexperience I'd like to keep the C# code to a minimum if possible since I'm still learning ADO.net and LINQ to SQL.Start Free Trial
