ASP.NET AJAX - How to Maintain Scroll Position

I've tried putting maintainScrollPositionOnPostBack="true" in my web.config, in the Form_Load, in the Page directive, and I've even tried setting it though the Page Proterties.

It doesn't work.

I have a TabControl where each tab is made up on an UpdatePanel that contains a standard ASP:Panel with a Veritcal ScrollBar, and in that Panel is a DataGrid. If the DataGrid grows beyond the height of the Panel, the ScrollBar becomes active and functions like a ScrollBar should.
I also have a Timer control that updates the database and rebinds the DataGrid of whichever Tab is visible.

My problem is that each time the Timer ticks, the scroll bar resets. I've tried setting maintainScrollPositionOnPostBack="true" every which way I can imagine and it has no affect.

Please Help!!
