The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

After compiling/copying WebSite to IIS 5.1 Server on XP, I get "Server Application Unavailable.

Asked by wally_davis in Programming for ASP.NET

I have created an ASP.NET (Ver 2.0) in Visual Studio 2005 on an XP Pro SP2 Workstation with IIS 5.1 installed. I've right-clicked on the Website folder under IIS and made sure I setup ASP.NET to 2.0 and to the C# language. I've both compiled and copied the WebSite files to IIS 5.1 on another XP Pro SP2 Machine.
I get the following error when I type in the following link http://Jaguire/default.aspx:
"Server Application Unavailable. The The web application you are attempting to access on this web server is currently unavailable.  Please hit the "Refresh" button in your web browser to retry your request.     Administrator Note: An error message detailing the cause of this specific request failure can be found in the application event log of the web server. Please review this log entry to discover what caused this error to occur."

I've performed Security changes to Inetpubs folder, so on and so forth.
What I found interesting was if I'm on the local machine where IIS exists, I could right-click, left click Browse on the files "localstart.asp" or "iisstart.asp" and they opened. If I right-click on my ASP.NET Apps "Default.aspx" file, I get the same error as above.
NOW, if I go to the remote machine where I developed and copied the ASP.NET Files from and try to type in any of the three links above, I get the followign results:
http://Jaguire/iisstart.asp - Under Construction
http://Jaguire/localstart.asp - Page could not be found (sounds like this file will only run from local machine)
http://Jaguire/Default.aspx (original error I explained above)
Have I not compiled my ASP.NET application correctly, are there some other Setup steps I failed to implement on the Remote IIS Server?
Any help will be terrific.

The only ASP.NET/Website files I've developed and copied from the Source computer are as follows:
- App_Data (folder)
- Default.aspx
- Default.aspx.cs
- Web.Config
