The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Newbie: ASP.net page that can display an Access 2003 table, and save any changes to it + new records.

Hi,

I figured i'd teach myself asp.net while writing an application for a part of our company. I've got a decade of C++/ASP Classic experience behind me but no .net. i'd appreciate any pointers and (tidy) sample code to get me going subject to the specs below...

Thanks!

------

I would like to create an ASP.net page that lets the user 'edit' or add new items to the table below (note deletions are not allowed due to cascade effect - instead there is a flag for deleted items).

MS ACCESS 2003 TABLE SCHEMA:
tblBrands { BrandName (Text), IsBrandDeleted (Boolean)}

All the table records should be listed in two columns (like the table itself). For field 'BrandName' users should be able to make any changes neccessary in a text box. If needed they should be able to check or uncheck the 'IsBrandDeleted' in the next column for that item. If needed they should also be able to add a new record.

Clicking on a SAVE CHANGES button at the bottom of the page will update the database.

Clikcing on a RESET button will reload the original information from the database.

Clicking on a CANCEL button will forward the users to another page.

Other notes:
There should be some data validation and checking when a user edits/saves.
i.e. They can not clear a Brandname and leave whitespace (there has to be something there), since that is the same as deleting it.
