User.IsInRole does not work for LoggedIn event (login control) / Running code EVERY TIME user logs in

Using standard asp.net membership.

I noticed that the loginredirect page code doesn't always run, like in the case where you have a ReturnUrl in the querystring (for the login page.)

In the original loginredirect code I used to set certain important session variables, based on the current user.  But, since this code doesn't ALWAYS run, after logging in, I wanted to move that code out.

So, I found the LoggedIn event on the actual Login control.  But, I noticed that User.IsInRole doesn't seem to work in this case.  In the code below the IF statement never is true, even though I know they are in that role.

How can I work around this?  Basically I want this code to run EVERY TIME the user logs in, whether there is a ReturnUrl or not.

I ended up just putting a response.redirect to my login.redirect page in the LoggedIn event....

Then in the loginredirect code I checked if request.querystring("ReturnUrl") was equal to "".  If not, I redirected to the request.querystring("ReturnUrl") after I set my session vars...
