You are using the DownloadFileAsync() method, which is non-blocking (asynchroneous). This means that the code continues to execute without waiting for the file to complete download. This will cause a race condition, of your code trying to send the file and destroying the WebClient object, while it may still be trying to download.

You may either want to use DownloadFile(), which is synchroneous, and will therefore wait until the file is downloaded; or create a handler for the DownloadFileCompleted event of the WebClient, which will trigger when the download is completed.
