Question

How do I make sure a LinkButton is only clicked once?

Hi there. I have a custom server control based off of the standard ASP.NET LinkButton. I need to be able to ensure that the button can only be clicked once when posting back.

I have tried several methods, including emitting a hidden field that stores a flag. I had to embed a bit of JavaScript into the click event to read the field and return false. The problem with this, is that it seems like a big hack.

I am looking for something simpler that can handle multiple buttons on a page.

Do you smart folks have any guidance? I just can't get my head around this problem.

I appreciate your help.

You will need some scripting to do this. So pretty much any solution would be a "hack".

This might be simpler:

Using JS, we can disable button, after clicking. or else, see this logic if you have idea about ajax

http://www.asp.net/AJAX/AjaxControlToolkit/Samples/Animation/Animation.aspx

click on the button and see, it is disabling.

sorry, im in hurry, i cannot give you detail suggestion, try js or ajax techniques, if you didnot get logic, i will explain you tommorow

if you do not want to use the disabled property, you can try dynamically assigning a class:

Try something like this in your button definition:

     <input    type="button" value="mybutton"   onclick="this.disabled=true;">
