i want use sql statement

well, can you explain why not a dataset?
as with the SQL statement alone, you won't get very far.
actually, to get the gridview display any data, you HAVE to use a dataset (aka a datatable/dataview).

hence, please clarify the problem.

what is _info.HotDealDescription that line

i see.

actually, the grid in that example is bound to a typed dataset, and not to a normal dataset.
hence, the dataitem object returns a class which has properties for all the columns as needed.

for your case, the code could be something like this:

DataRow _info = (DataRow)e.Item.DataItem;  
 
if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(_info["column_name"]))  
{  
  HyperLink _hlnk = (HyperLink)e.Item.FindControl("hlnkProduct");  
   _hlnk.Attributes.Add("productDescription", (_info["column_name"].ToString());  
 
}  
 
 
}
