never solved the actual problem.
I'm pretty sure it's impossible to read the server logs in the express version of SQL 2005 from SQL Express Mgmt Studio or there is a bug.

I'm trying to look at the SQL 2005 Express server logs (not the data logs) in SQL Server Management Studio Express.
Normally, you simply double-click the log name and it opens a log viewing window.
Is this feature not supported in the express versions? Where are these logs stored? (I searched the entire machine for *.log, but no sql logs shows up)
