Hi

I am being asked to create a page in which a user can click to run a PowerPoint show.

Anyone know how you would approach this?

If you want it to run in a browser, maybe check into Producer for PowerPoint. There's a version available for both PPT 2007 and PPT 2003.

Would not use either of these solutions.  

Have found a satidfactory stopgap in Google Docs whcih converts PP shows to flash and you can then embed the flash file in a web page.  flash is the only way to go as PowerPoint is not a natural web format.

Not ideal as very rough and ready.  Would not use this solution but it is accurate.
