I have a Asp.Net page using VB. On the page is a submit button and a check box. I want the user to be able to submit using the submit button only if the Check Box is selected. This is my first time using validators so I am unsure how to do this.

Which of course can be bypassed by turning off javascript (but if using webforms, your whole application does not work without javascript).
So you need some server-side validation as well.
I would suggest client-side custom validation. Add a Custom Validator to your page. You can probably copy the below Validator and Javascript and everything should work fine for you...

Notice that the ClientValidationFunction = "ValidateCheckBoxChecked" . That is the javascript function that will be called. So we now create our javascript as follows...

P.S. - Where ever you place the <asp:CustomValidator /> control is where the error message will fire and display. Notice that I set the error message as an asterick (ErrorMessage="*"). If you want that asterick to display next to the checkbox, make sure and place your validator control next to the checkbox.
Additionally, you need to also confirm that the ControlToValidate property is set to the checkbox control that you are validating.
