The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Consuming NOAA's National Weather Service Forecast Web Service

Tags: asp.net visual basic, Any Browser, http://www.nws.noaa.gov/forecasts/xml/#use_it
I am attempting to get a five day forecast from NOAA's National Weather Service. The WSDL link is (http://www.weather.gov/forecasts/xml/DWMLgen/wsdl/ndfdXML.wsdl) and the XSD file is (http://www.weather.gov/forecasts/xml/DWMLgen/schema/DWML.xsd). The reference page for the service is here: (http://www.nws.noaa.gov/forecasts/xml/#use_it). I am able to retrieve the information, but wanted to use the XSD schema and a dataset to access the data. The XSD file is also furnished by the NWS. If something changes in their service, I feel like they would modify the schema to reflect the change. Here's the Visual Basic code to make the request from the web service:

            Dim proxy As New ndfdXML()

            ' make the SOAP request
            xmlForecast = proxy.NDFDgenByDay(nLat, nLon, DateTime.Now, m_numOfDays, formatType.Item12hourly)

Once the string is filled, I would like to be able to iterate the tables and rows of the tables to obtain the forecast data using the XSD schema. Could someone provide an example of how to do this? I would in turn like to use a string builder to create the HTML output to present the five day forecast similar to this: http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Alexandria&state=LA&site=LCH&textField1=31.2919&textField2=-92.4633&e=0&TextType=2
