Do you have a unique field in your table?
Also if you have a primary key , you cannot update the Key if it is in WHERE clause of your SQL statement. It will cause a concurrency violation.
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI get the following error message in VS.NET (ASP.NET) when trying to create a data adapter for an MS SQL database (the database is hosted on a remote server):
"Could not determine which columns uniquely identify the rows for "MyTable"
This happens for the update and delete statements of the data adapter.
Does anybody know what could be causing this error?

What kind of provider are you using? Some providers cannot generate some statements. I am using eInfoDesign dbProvider and it works fine. You can download it here

also it happens if there are no primary keys defined in your table being accessed by dataadapter, you can write your custom update statements to update
