The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

.NET Timer & Sleep Question

Asked by imrancs in .NET

Hi

I m developing an application that checks after a specified for new discussion messages, and when there is new message for the connected client, i have to popup a window (just like MSN Messenger) to notify the user that u have recieved a new message, if there are more than one new message i return a DataSet to the client, navigate through the DataSet using a For loop, and for every message i have to show popup window that stays for say 5 seconds, and than next and so on until there is no new record in DataSet.
there is also a hyperlink on the popup window for the site, now the problem

1- if i use System.Threading.Thread.Sleep method for staying the window for 5 second e.g. and move the mouse over the popup window the mouse disappears for the first time popup after logon, and when a new message received and popup window again shown the mouse doesn't disappear but i can't click on the like (a Linklabel of the popup window).

2- and if i use Timer ( in the loop )to hide the window after 5 seconds, then before Timer Tick the loop iterations are complete, and i m not able to show popup window for every message in the DataSet.

i would preffer to user Sleep instead of timer, if there is way to click on the link while Sleep duration, but any solution will be appriciated.

Thanx in advance

Looking fwd
Imran
