Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI have a usercontrol that creates 3 dropdown lists for the day, month and year.
The usercontrol is:
<%@ Control Language="c#" AutoEventWireup="false" Codebehind="CalendarList.a
The following server control is defined within the usercontrol:
<asp:DropDownList ID="dayList" AccessKey="d" Runat="server"></asp:DropD
The following HTML is returned for this control.
<select name="CalendarList:dayList
NOW, I need to access the above "select" dropdown list in Javascript. AS you can see the name of the object doesnt lend itself to the Javascript DOM.
That is, to access the select list if it where named "dayList" in the form "myForm", I would use the following code:
alert(document.myForm.dayL
I cant do this but because of the naming of the list.
I can provide a working example that will be explain itself for the person willing to tackle this.

You need the usercontrol to produce the javascript that you use to access the dropdownlist. Either produce all the javascript in the dropdownlist you need or as a nasty workaround build a new js variable that refernces it...
lock("dayL ist",s.tos tring)
dim s as new system.text.stringbuilder
s.append("<script language=javascript type=text/javascript>")
s.append("var dayList = document.myform." & daylist.clientid & ";")
s.append("//put your javascript to manipulate the lists etc here")
s.append("</script>")
page.registerclientscriptb
