ASP.NET disabling AutoPostBack for one event only (treeview)

I am doing an ASP.NET project and using the treeview from Microsoft.Web.UI.WebControls.  I like the AutoPostBack feature, but I would like to disable it for one event (onSelectedIndexChange).

How can I keep the autopostback, but disable it for this one event?

What does setting AutoPostBack for the treeview do for you?

I want to disable it because it makes navigating the tree a bit more clumsy.

I need AutoPostBack because I need to do certain things server side when certain events occur.

So now back to the question, how can I do this?

Yes, I did.  I needed to disable the postback for when a user collapsed or expanded a node in the tree via the +/-.
