Bootstrapper & Deploy .NET Framework
Hello Experts. If I understand this correctly, everything I've read on deploying the .NET Framework indicates that the huge download must come from my own bandwidth. So, my question is: Is this True?--or is there a way I can deploy the .Net Framework straight from a Microsoft site? Please Note: I don't want to provide users a link, informing them to download & install the .Net Framework. I would like this built seamlessly into my deployment as part of the Bootstrapper...but instead of having the huge .Net Framework file coming from my own domain, have it coming from a Microsoft domain. This is one hell of a large download!

Well, Windows Update is pushing the installation of the .NET framework, so that also many older computers should have this already installed.
But the direct link to the DOTNETFX.EXE (V1.1) is:

I guess you can. It's the link that is being downloaded when you go to the .NET Framweork download on www.microsoft.com - so I guess this should be OK and it will also remain valid as long as the framework V1.1 remains available at Microsoft site.

unless your users have old version of most of microsoft's operating systems, the .NET Framework is most likely ALREADY installed. I recently bought my wife a new Laptop, which came with MS Windows XP Home edition installed, and low and behold, the .NET Framework was also already there - pre-loaded with the current release of Windows XP HE!!!. Microsoft is including the .NET Framework in all updatres to Windows, SQL Server, and other standard Microsoft products, so the issue may be moot very soon, if not already.
