you have a button and when you click this button a panel (or something) drops down from this button. And there can be user control on the "panel".
I could have the same functionality by just having a dialoug box open when the user clicks the button. I guess it's just more visually impressive having a "panel" drop down.
Anyone ever com across something like this?

One of the harder design things regarding drop down type controls like the one you are looking at making is that the drop down part almost needs to be another window. This is due to the fact, I think, that controls on a form cannot extend past the forms borders. For information on how to create a popup window and some code to do it see:
