I am looking for input about the "best" Add-ins for Visual Studio.NET (2005 or later). Note that recommendations about non-Add-in apps or utilities that provide a synergistic or complementary effect to VS.NET are also welcome.
Specifically, I am trying to establish a corporate standard/best practice and am looking for an "ideal" software configuration that will maximize the company's .NET developers' productivity (i.e. a developer's overall contribution/benefit to the business).
For example, any tools which provide significant benefits in the following areas would qualify:
1. increases the quantity (i.e. higher feature completion rate) of a developer's code
2. increases the quality (i.e. lower defect rate) of a developer's code
3. allows the the developer to (safely) debug/fix more bugs per time unit
4. enables less senior/skilled developers to perform tasks that they would otherwise be unable to do alone
5. Other (any other benefit that provides psitive ROI for the business)
The recomended tools _don't_ necessarily need to be free, but I'm specifically looking for recommendations (and/or warnings to avoid specific apps) based on personal experiences and/or evaluations (rather than just a link to the tool's website), and that preferably compare and contrast the recommended tool(s) with the tools' competitors. Also, the cost of non-free tools needs to be justifiable based on a positive ROI (preferably near term) in comparison with cheaper or free alternatives.
Anyone who would like to post a list of the apps/add-ins installed on their "personal dev PC" is encouraged to do so.
Thanks.
