The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Reading an xml File into a dataset & writing the results into a database

Asked by WingChunManiac in .NET, Microsoft Visual Basic.Net

I am attempting to read the contents of an xml file into a dataset & then write some of the data into a Sql Table in my database the xml file is attatched as Lookup.Txt.  To clarify this I want to write the data of only 2 of the tables AttributeType & AttributeValue into 1 Sql  Table and I want to know how to link this information from my Dataset results the xml file has a relationship between the 2 tables but the dataset results do not appear to link to each other in any wa?.

I can read the XML file directly in to a dataSet as  XmlDs.ReadXml(xmlPath)  this results in the dataSet containing 7 tables Table(4) = AttributeType  &  Table(6) = AttributeValue. My problem is that I want to be able to combine these 2 values so that I can write them to 1 SQL table like so :-
AttributeTypeCode   AttributeValueDesc  AttributeValueCode
501                            APPLES                    A1
501                            OTHER APPLES       A2
...                               ...                             ...
502                           RED DELICIOUS        O1

When I look at the tables of the DataSet in dfferent grid views I canNot see a link from AttributeType to AttributeValue  so how can I link them ?? Is there a better way of reading the XML into the dataset ?? If not then how do I loop around the tables in the datatset to get the desired results ??

Writing to the SQL database is not an issue at the moment I only want to know how to link the 2 XML tables.
