c# error Cannot implicitly convert type 'object' to byte []

hi I have the following line of code

 byte[] epassworddb = ds.Tables[0].Rows[0]["Password"];

bascially getting the password value from the DB which is a binary and loading it in the byte epassworddb

but get the error Cannot implicitly convert type 'object' to byte []

please help

What you need is a cast:

byte[] epassworddb = (byte[]) ds.Tables[0].Rows[0]["Password"];

PS: it might be that you have more luck doing it like this (in case you get errors again):

DataColumn dcol = new DataColumn("Password", typeof(byte[]));
byte[] epassworddb = (byte[])ds.Tables[0].Rows[0][dcol];

You can also use this snippet to convert your object to a byte[] with the aid of an memory-stream.
