As a guess, I think you might be able to overcome it by calling the binding manager's .CancelCurrentEdit method at the start of your navigation code. But, if you do that, you will also need to add some code to check if any change (as opposed to just navigation) has been made and, if so, skip the .CancelCurrentEdit line.
I say "as a guess" because I haven't actually seen this happen, and am not at the moment in a position to experiment to try and make it happen.
