How Do You Increase The 25 Thread Limit

All works fine with upto 25 threaded network connections but then does not go beyond. How do you increase this limit ?

Hello cehrnow,

The threading makes use of the default .NET threadpool.
It is possible to change the maximum of 25 threads in the threadpool though not easy.

Please refer to http://www.csharphelp.com/archives3/archive487.html for an extensive explanation and code sample.

Yes we use the Devshock.Tool.ThreadPoolManager to increase the available threads using .SetMaxThreads and can see the pool increase to 50. However, the allocation still seems to limit at 25 even though there are more available. Guess we're using this incorrectly ?

YOu can set the min and max pool size attributes whose default values are 0 and 120 respectively

This is a TCP/IP network connectivity issue not a database issue.

What happens when you go over 25 threads? Is this program listening?

I am not familiar with the Devshock.Tool.ThreadPoolManager, but the issue is that you can normally only set the amount of threads in the threadpool from unmanaged code, hence the whole thing with the COM Interop to be able to reach that API.

So you might want to double-check if thats indeed what the ThreadPoolManager you are using does, otherwise you will have to go with a solution like the one I posted earlier.
