The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How to bring large table of Oracle data into a Windows form in Visual Basic.Net 2005

Asked by Definit1 in Microsoft Visual Basic.Net, Visual Studio

Hi Experts,

I created a Windows Form in a Visual Basic.Net 2005 application where I am attempting to retrieve data from five different tables in Oracle. I have created the Project named ("MassLoad"), the Data Source named ("AdvHuronQry") and created the controls to display the data in the Windows form named ("Form1"). I am new to VB.Net and have very little coding experience in it but I believe the cause of my current dilemma is relating to me not specifying in the "Form1Load" function, some kind of Dataset command to slice the very large amount of data coming from the "Huron_Data" table in Oracle. The Huron_Data table unlike the other tables, has about 190,000 rows of data in it, as compared to the over four that have an average of about 30-40,000 rows in it. I even tested running the code, with references to the Huron_Data commented out and, it ran sucessfully loading the data in the controls on the form, sourced from the other four tables.
My question is how do I write code (perhaps create a dataset or dataview or filtering) that allows me to populate the "Huron_Data" table as well as the other four tables without causing my application to stall because of the difficulty my application is having populating this data.

Regards,
