The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Saving a cropped image

Tags: asp.net 2.0 vb
I have code to upload and save a picture as a thumbnail.  The thumbnail code works great.  The problem is I'm trying to then crop the thumbnail to a square pixel of 55 by 55.    I'm using code that normally would be saving the image to a screen, but I'm saving the image as a file into a web directory.  The thumbnail saves as 55 x 55, but it is not being cropped.  It's just being squished to fit into  the 55 square.  Again, thumbnail code works great - I show some of it here just to show where I'm getting the image to work with to crop it.  Can someone look at my code starting at:

Since you need help with code I am going to change the Graphics zone to ASP.NET.  That zone would be a good place to find experts who can help with you code.

When I made this change an email notice was sent out to certain Guru experts in that zone so it should help you get attention to this.  Keep in mind the experts are all volunteers so there is no guarantee the response will be immediate or even that they will be able to help.  I believe they can though so hopefully this change will help.

Let me know if you have a question about what I did.

Try this snippet.

Sample usage:

Dim image As Image = Image.FromFile("C:\WINDOWS\GreenStone.bmp")
Me.pictureBox1.Image = ImageCropper.Crop(image, New Rectangle(0, 0, 50, 50))

Not what I was looking for, but I already figured out what my mistake was in my code.  Mainly had to do with my not understanding what DrawImage does.   I finally figured out the second Rectangle is what does the actual cropping, and the first Rectangle is used to save the result, so just made them both 55

graphicthumb.DrawImage(thumb, New Rectangle(0, 0, 55, 55), New Rectangle(0, 0, 55, 55), unit)

and I finally got the cropped thumbnail I was looking for.

I'll accept the FunctionCrop as the solution, and maybe use it later.
