The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. How do I write a script to move data from a CSV to an Excel file once every second?

After investing some time into this in VBA, it was brought to my attention by purplepomegranite that my resources in Excel would be too booked to do real-time graphing or calculating... he recommended a stand-alone VB script, which makes perfect sense.

So I have a data file (CSV) that gets updated by 16 sensors once every second.  This format is 16 columns with a row of data being added once every second.

I want to take this additional line of data and in as real-time as possible pull it into Excel so that [near] real-time calculations can be made and visualized in a graph.  This will allow me to predict trends (this is for fracture natural gas well bores.... it will allow me to predict flow trends and pressure trends) to avoid problems with my well bore.

I am at a loss as to where to start since all of my VB experience has been VBA (I love VBA).  Will I just write the same program in VB script as I would in VBA but with more specifics called out (file locations, etc, etc)?  Thanks, everyone, for the help.
