How to add a record to a bound datagrid and auto populate the new entry

Tags: vb .net 2003
I have a datagrid that is bound, and I am successfull at creating a new record, setting datagrid to last row which should be the new record, then populate some values.

But I cannot auto populate the new grid record.  I can type manually on the new record,  but it does not seem to recognize the new entry, till I actually start typing in it manually.

I hope this makes sense.

I do a add new record, then try and move record index on datagrid to equal dataset count + 1.  Which at that point looks good, but not able to auto update the new record with data.
