error when trying to find last non-blank cell in Excel using VB 2008

Hi!

I am getting an error

public member 'xldirection' on type 'applicationclass' not found


here are the excerpts of code that are getting error:

The error refers specifically to this line

lngRow = xlApp.Workbooks(1).Worksheets("Sheet1").Cells(xlApp.Workbooks(1).Worksheets("Sheet1").rows.count, "B").end(Excel.XlDirection.xlUp).row + 1
                        xlApp.Workbooks(1).Worksheets("Sheet1").cells(lngRow, "B").FormulaR1C1 = "TOTALS"
