The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Help using VB.Net with Access as a backend.

Hello all,
I genenerally only pull data from Oracle tabels and then create reports from that so I am a little new at what I am doing now.  I am just trying to create a small app that will pull data from a db, insert data to a db, update the db and delete from the db.  I started out trying to do the VB.Net "Windows over forms" series online, but I don't reall ylike the visual approach to it.  I want to create all my classes and do everything myself.

I have created both an .mdf and .mdb...not sure which is the best and just wanted to use them to try and work out a few things.  I am trying to decide the best way to create my connection, do what I need to do and then close the connection.

I thought about using the BackgroundWorker when I needed it, open the connection, do something like create a new customer and then close it.  But what if after that the person wants to add another, I worry about the Background worker immediately being called again..

Should I open a connection when the app loads and then close it when the app closes?  Anytime someone is in the app they will be pulling or pushing some sort of data to the DB.

Sorry, lots of questions...,aybe we can tackle them one at a time and I will open new posts if need be...

Right now I am just working with a sample DB I created...Customers, appointments, appoinment details, etc.  If you need anything from me let me know.  I don't really have much code except for connection strings, but I can write something up real fast if asked.
