The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? How do you implement a Delay() function in VB.NET?

Hi all,

I was writing what was supposed to be some simple code in VB Net (Visual Express 2008) to slowly print some numbers on a screen. But then I discovered that VB Net doesn't have a Delay() function. So I learned how to use the Timer control, and tried to implement my own. See the code in the code box below.

I have a Timer1_Tick event handler nicely ticking away - I can see it displaying the time of day on the form - so that's so far so good.

But once I click on my Form's Start button, and it calls the Delay() function whole thing just hangs.

        TickCount = 0
        While TickCount < TickEnd
        End While
    End Sub

So what is going wrong? Is this tight loop too CPU intensive and is hogging all the real time, or what?

And what alternative way is there to implement an elegant Delay() function?

I tried to upload the whole VB solution/project as a zip, but each time it keeps telling me: "The extension of the uploaded file is not in the list of accepted extensions." How do I upload my project?
