Laptops for visual studio 2008

Hi, I am going to buy myself a laptop,

can you provide me what laptop is best for visual studio 2008? Any brand...


I am looking for a laptop that meets this criteria,
Good specification + low price...

not a built shared video.. if possible...

and at around $500 to $555.

Any recommendations?

well, there are literally hundreds of possibilities.
You need at least 2GB, Dual Core, but of course, 4 GB, Quad core will be better.
I suggest Windows Vista, not XP, to have chance to test all .net capabilities, specially in user interface and security features.
A full monitor size is also desirable (15")
About price, it can be related to brand. Acer laptops use to be cheaper.

I've recently bought a HP DV 3550 EE, with 4 GB of RAM, Windows Vista and 6 MB of Cache. It works really fine with Visual Studio 2008, SQL Server 2008.
Although this is not in market today, with a notebook with 4GB of RAM and a good CPU with at least 4MB of cache would be more than enough.

DV 3550 costs more than $1000 and has just 13". So I don't think is the best advice for this case.
About speed, I think this depends on what are you expecting to pay for. But a dual core 2.0 Ghz is desirable.

I did not advise him to buy that one, it has been discontinued.
I said it because I've used Visual Studio on it with a good working experience.
(another notebook with at least same amount of RAM and CPU and Cache should work as well as it)

okay here is the final specification:

At least 2GB of memory and at least 4 mb of Cache.
Dual core with at least 2.0 Ghz processors speed.
Windows vista or Windows 7

14" inch or 15 inch monitor.
200+ Gb HDD drives...

Any additional? How about the video cards?

Having at least 128 or 256 MB Dedicated (not shared) would be more than enough.
