How to get number of retruend records of a query in VB.NET/ASP.NET ?

Hello group,

In Page_Load() event, I'm assigning an SQL code to sqlDataSource1.SelectCommand then in another event such as btnReport_click() I do:

        GridView1.DataSourceID = "SqlDataSource1"
        GridView1.DataBind()
            
How can I get number of returned records ? I need to get the number of returned records for cases i.e. Rec Num = 0 then I can show a message claiming there were no such records. Currently I'm getting a blank page which doesn't look right.

There is no direct code to get records number, but you can work around this issue, let us say that you have a label1 in your page. Try my attached code (SqlDataSource1_Selected in Event)

            lbl_msg.Text = "No data found for " & txtDate.Text

    End Sub

it doesn't show it up. Do I need to refresh or do something with the page?
