So, we have to manually convert to the Upper case as you have suggested above, if we have two sentences then we have to get the first character set to it uppercase and then soon after the full stop.
"Happy birthday to my best friend. Happy birthday to my best friend"

If you use vbProperCase, if you input this:
en-us/libr ary/ micros oft.visual basic.stri ngs.strcon v.aspx
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BEST FREIND"
You will get this:
"Happy Birthday To My Best Freind"
There are more option to use with StrConv. You can check them here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/
But for what you want to do, vbProperCase is the best option.
