Java Script and Dot Net

I have a dot net 2.0 c# page which uses java script to set some values on the page (from the return of a modal dialogue) - that all works fine. However, when hit the save button which fires the code behind method which reads that field, it doesn't recognise the new value (even though the new value displays on the page). It saves Ok but with the value at page load - Am I missing something simple here?

Is it a form field that you put the value in? Is it inside the form tag? Only the values of the fields are sent back to the server.

Do you put a value in the field in Page_Load? Do you check for IsPostBack, so that you don't initialise the field every time the page loads?

Also,

1. Are you using fields from "HTML Controls" or from "Web Controls"?
2. Is ViewState enabled for the form fields?

Hi - The field is inside a form tag, it's not being set in the form load. The field is a Web Control but the javascript sets the value like this - document.all("txtPBPersonId").value=MyArgs[0].toString();. The value looks ok on screen but doesn't actually save

That javascript should be ok (but only for ie).

Can we see the code where you read the value of the field?

The control was disabled - I enabled it and made the style visibility hidden and all worked fine - not sure what that was all about but anyway - solved the problem.

Field values from disabled fields are not submitted, so that makes perfect sense.
