Windows Forms controls not refreshing to reflect dataset

Tags: C# Windows Forms
Hi I have Windows form which is driven by a ListBox when the selected item changes a stored procedure retrieves information into a dataSet and the information is dispalyed in various controls (comboboxes textboxes etc). The information in the dataset is current and correct. The problem however is say  i have a textbox which holds a name populated when I change selection on the list box it fills the value "joe bloggs" the I select another item and the dataset has a NULL entry for name the text box is not updated. It appears that only the controls with new information are updated and old information remains. I have tried Refresh() Invalidate() Update() to no avail. The only workround I have is to set the datasource to null and reassign it again and also set the textBox text property to an empty string. Is there a better solution?
