Gridview cell font color does not persist during postback

I have a label in a Gridview cell. I populate the cell with data and if the value is 0, I change the font color to red. This works fine, but when I do a postback, the color changes back to black. I know why the font is changing - because the block of code that handles the color change in the Grid_RowCreated event is not firing. I've even tried to isolate the e.Row.Cells[index].text but it appears to be null during the postback. Is there another Gridview event available during the postback that has the data present at time of rendering or does anyone know how to update the cell font color after the postback.
