Reference .dll from Web User Control .ascx

Hello Experts,

I am developing web user controls for a Sharepoint intranet.

I would like to build a class library that contains separate classes for separate ascx controls.  I would then like to build the assembly and place the .dll in the GAC and reference the classes from ascx files.

I am having trouble understanding how to reference the .dll from the ascx file.

My controls work fine if I use the .ascx.cs code behind file, but I would prefer deploying them as a .dll.

Thanks for any help.
