which Crystal Reports merge modules should I use with VS 2008 setup deployment project , There is for VS 2005 but which modules should I use for 2008

You should use the 2008 merge modules.

They should have been included with Visual Studio.

What version of Crystal?  I assume it is the one included with VS.

check in your C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\Bootstrapper\Packages\CrystalReports10_5 folder

I use the Crystal report that is includd with VS 2008, But there is no merge modules in
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A\Bootstrapper\Packages\CrystalReports10_5

only msi (Install files) how does that work?

So there are no more merge modules for CR in Vs 2008.. Found this.


"In Visual Studio 2008, merge modules are no longer used for crystal reports controls.

 To add the crystal reports files:

1.  Go to the deployment project's properties page.
2.  Click the "Prerequisites" button.
3.  Add the "Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008" "

I did this and the files did not install on the web server even though I included crystal 2008 as a prerequisite. Did I miss something/

I found my problem and this may help you. When selecting Crystal 2008 as a prerequisite, I had to choose the option "Download prerequisites from the same location as my application".
Once I did this I saw the redist for Crystal 2008 appear in the output from my deployment project and it did installl on the production server.
