The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Visual Studio 2008 Insert Field Limit in Access

Asked by iamtgo3 in Visual Studio, Microsoft Access Database

Tags: Visual Studio 2008, Access

I have an desktop applications in VB.NET Visual Studio 2008. I am doing Insert and update queries to Access 2000 - 2003 format. I figured out that you need to keep your update queries under I think 127 fields. My table in Access has 155 fields so I split the update query into two seperate queries and that fixed my update issues.

Now I have INSERT query issues. When I open my access database and open the table I want to do the insert query it opens just fine. After I try an INSERT query of all 155 fields from my desktop application that table will not open anymore and tells me it is unrecognizable. All of the other table in the database still open up fine but that one is unrecoverable.

My question is there a limit to how many fields you can have in an INSERT Query from my desktop application into the Access database?

INSERT INTO myTable
(my 155 fields)
VALUES
(my 155 values)

If I run the exact same query on my SQL Server it checks out fine and executes perfectly. I have the same table in SQL Server as I do in Access. I have a client that wants desktop updates to control who can update the SQL Server. So just forget about SQL Server for any of your answers I have to do this thru Desktop application and Access.
