Can't add checkbox to gridview

Working in VS 2008.  

I have a gridview databound to an sql table.  I would like to have a checkbox column but it requires a boolean datatype.

sql tables don't have a boolean datatype.  And bit does not work either.

There must be a way to do this.

I may be back with another question about 2 way data binding.  I would have thought that that would automatically updated the table.
